- A Barbed broach is an instrument manufactured from round wires, and the smooth surface is notched to form barbs.
- The barbed broach is an extirpating, NOT an enlarging instrument.
- ‘Barbs’ on the broach snag the pulp to facilitate removal.
- The barbed broach must only be used in the straight part of the canal and insertion of the broach should not exceed 2/3rd the length of the canal.
INDICATION:
- Used to remove pulp tissue during endodontic(root canal) treatment.
- They are also used to loosen debris in a necrotic canal or to remove paper points or cotton pellets.

- Remove soft tissue from the canal.
- Designed to cut tissue when pulled from the canal.
