Dentsply Spiro Short Barbed Broaches

• A Barbed broach is an instrument manufactured from round wires, and the smooth surface is notched to form barbs.
• The barbed broach is an extirpating, NOT an enlarging instrument.
• ‘Barbs’ on the broach snag the pulp to facilitate removal.
• The barbed broach must only be used in the straight part of the canal and insertion of the broach should not exceed 2/3rd the length of the canal.

INDICATION:

• Used to remove pulp tissue during endodontic(root canal) treatment.
• They are also used to loosen debris in a necrotic canal or to remove paper points or cotton pellets.

ADVANTAGE:

• Remove soft tissue from the canal.
• Designed to cut tissue when pulled from the canal.
• Color-coded handles.
