Direction to Use
- Preparation:
- Ensure that the Waldent Automatic Crown Remover Kit is assembled correctly and all components are in good condition. This includes verifying the functionality of the spring-loaded mechanism, tips, wrench, swivel lock key, and steel string.
- Patient Preparation:
- Position the patient comfortably in the dental chair, ensuring proper isolation and access to the restoration that needs to be removed. Provide anesthesia or sedation as necessary for patient comfort.
- Selection of Tip:
- Choose the appropriate tip from the six different designs provided in the kit based on the type and location of the crown or restoration to be removed. Each tip is designed for specific engagement with different crown margins or bridges.
- Engaging the Crown or Bridge:
- Place the selected tip of the Waldent Automatic Crown Remover underneath the crown or bridge margin. Ensure proper engagement to avoid slipping during the removal process.
- Adjusting Impulse Strength:
- Adjust the impulse strength using the controllable setting on the device. For root-treated teeth or fragile restorations, lower the impulse strength to prevent damage to the underlying tooth structure.
- Applying Impulse:
- Apply an impulse by activating the device. The spring-loaded mechanism will deliver a sudden and controlled force to dislodge the crown or bridge by breaking the cement seal. Ensure the impulse is directed perpendicular to the restoration for optimal effectiveness.
- Removing the Restoration:
- Once the crown or bridge is dislodged, carefully remove it from the tooth or abutment. Use the wrench and swivel lock key as needed to stabilize and maneuver the restoration during removal.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Inspect the tooth or abutment and the removed restoration to ensure completeness and integrity of the removal process. Provide appropriate post-operative instructions to the patient, including care for any exposed teeth or abutments.
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Clean the Waldent Automatic Crown Remover Kit thoroughly after each use according to manufacturer’s instructions. Ensure all components are sterilized using recommended methods before storing them in a clean and dry environment.
- Safety Considerations:
- Always exercise caution when using the Waldent Automatic Crown Remover Kit, especially when setting the impulse strength. Higher impulse settings can potentially damage underlying teeth if not applied correctly. Ensure proper training and experience in using the device to avoid complications.
