The light-curing opaque IPS Empress Direct Opaquer material reliably masks undesired tooth discolourations, exposed metal surfaces and core build-ups in the anterior and posterior region. Given its high masking power, even the application of thin layers is sufficient to mask undesired discolourations or metal surfaces successfully: Even in deeper areas, discolouration is no longer visible.
Indications:
Masking of:
- Exposed metal surfaces when repairing damaged ceramic or composite veneers intraorally
- discoloured tooth structure

Directions to Use
Step 1 – Apply IPS Empress Direct Opaque to the prepared metal surface only. The layer applied should have a thickness of maximum 0.5 mm. Lightcure IPS Empress Direct Opaque according to the table 1 on reverse. Hold the light emission window of the curing light as close to the material as possible. If the surface is still not sufficiently masked, apply a second layer of IPS Empress Direct Opaque and light-cure again.
Step 2 – If the cavity includes proximal areas, place a matrix band and secure it with a wedge.
Step 3 – Repair the restoration by applying composite material (e.g. IPS Empress Direct) in increments. Light-cure each increment according to the instructions of the manufacturer of the respective product.
Step 4 – Finishing and polishing.
